Run in the Cloud: an overview

Hand a task to the cloud, close your laptop, and approve from any device. What it does, what each plan gets, and what it costs.

Run in the Cloud hands a discussion's task to a machine of ours, so the work carries on while your laptop is shut. The whole room goes with it, you can watch and answer it from any device you are signed in on, and the result comes back to you as a git branch.

What happens when you hand a task over

  1. Start it from the discussion's ⋯ menu → Run in the Cloud… on the Mac, the web or the iPhone, or with ltb cloud start in a terminal. The start screen shows an estimate and asks you for a cap: tokens, minutes and dollars.
  2. The room works. The lead does the work, the other seats review it before it counts as done, and the warden checks each action, as they do on your own machine.
  3. You stay in charge. Tests, builds and linters run on their own. Any other command waits for you, with Approve and Decline on every device. Stop ends the run at once.
  4. The work comes back. From the Mac, Pull Back makes it a branch of its own, Open PR opens a pull request, and Move Back to This Mac carries the discussion on here.

What keeps it safe

  • Commands run in a sandbox on a disposable machine that holds only the run's copy of your files.
  • The network reaches the package registries and nothing else.
  • No password, key or token of yours is ever on the machine. A CLI subscription such as Claude Code never runs there; those seats sit the run out.

What each plan gets

PlanCloud runs
FreeOne trial run: a Small machine, up to $1 and 30 minutes
Pro2 at once, Small or Medium machine
Team4 at once per member, Small or Medium, with the team's governance: Cloud Commands Without Approval, the cloud network setting, spend ceilings, and Company Pays, where members' runs come out of the team's credit

More runs than that wait in line, and the run's card says where.

What it costs

There is no new subscription. A run is paid from your credit in two parts: the AI it uses at the provider's price plus 10%, as everywhere else, and the machine's time at cost plus 10%, by the second. Small (2 CPUs, 2 GB) is about 2¢ an hour; Medium (4 CPUs, 8 GB) is about 8¢ an hour. A run waiting for your approval has no machine and costs nothing, and both parts count against the cap you set.

iPhone and Mac apps: the cloud writes, your Mac builds

A cloud run can edit a Swift or Xcode project and check its Swift, but it cannot build or run an iPhone or Mac app, because that needs Xcode, which only runs on a Mac. The app is built in one of two places: on your Mac when you bring the work back, or by Xcode Cloud on the pull requests a cloud job opens on GitHub, with no Mac of yours involved. Commands, network and toolchains says how to set that up.

The technical pages cover each part in full: starting, watching and stopping a run; how the room works in the cloud; which commands run without asking and what the network reaches; and how the work comes back through git.
