While Channel Mode is on, the sidebar is a tree of the places a team talks. Turn the mode off and the sidebar is as it was.
The organization and its projects
Your organization, which is your team, comes first, as a row of its own: a chevron, a building, the team's name and ORG. The chevron folds its channels away and back.
Under it, Organization Channels: channels for the whole team, such as #announcements, each a # row with a count of what is unread. They are only made on purpose, with the + on that group, by anyone who may share with the team, the same people who may make a team project.
Then Projects, with its + for a new project. General comes first. Each project is a row with a board, its name and how many sessions it holds; opened, its sessions hang from a line under it, each led by its icon: a branch for a session, columns for a side-by-side one, and # for a channel. A channel is just another session in its project's list, with no ticket number and no group of its own. An organization folder, such as one made when your folders were converted, is one more project here.
Under the projects, All Projects with their count opens the Projects page, and Recent lists what you worked on last with the day under each.
Without a team there is no organization row and no Organization Channels: the sidebar starts at Projects. There is no Direct Messages section.
Where a new channel lands
A channel in a project is started from New Session with Channel chosen, and goes where any new session goes: the project you chose, or the one New Sessions Land In names, which is General unless you changed it. A channel in no project at all is one taken out of every project. It never goes to the organization by itself. Its first message names it, and you can rename it.
A channel row's Move to… moves it to another project or to Organization Channels, and it is then shared the way that project or the organization is.
The header and the AIs
A channel's page shows where it lives above its name, such as Acme › Website › bugs, then # channel-name, and under it Project Channel · Acme / Website or Organization Channel · Acme with the number of AIs it can call on.
Beside the box you type in is the same AI box an In Turns discussion has: a chevron on top that opens Who's in the Room, then each AI with its logo, its name and its switch. A switch saves at once and applies to everyone in the channel, on every app. The box itself is the In Turns box, with the channel's AI policy where Depth sits, @ and Aa; Guests… is in its + menu. It says Message #channel-name. @mention an AI when you need one., and the line under it says what the AI policy does.
