On the web or the phone, Run on my Mac shows offline when your Mac is not checking in, and a message sent there is refused with a note to open LetThemBuild on it, or to answer on the server instead. Nothing waits in a queue while you think it runs.
How online is decided
While it is signed in, the Mac app holds a connection open to our servers and checks in on every heartbeat. That connection closing — the app quitting, the Mac sleeping, the network dropping — marks the Mac offline at once. A Mac that has not been heard from for two minutes counts as offline too.
What to check
- The app is open on the Mac, not only installed. The window can be closed; the app must be running.
- The Mac is awake and on a network. A sleeping Mac cannot check in.
- It is signed in to the same account as the web or phone you are using: Settings → Account on the Mac shows the address.
- Run Requests from My Other Devices is on, in the same pane. Off, the Mac still syncs but never picks up a run.
- The right Mac. With several Macs on one account, a request goes to the one the discussion names, or to another idle Mac once that one has gone quiet. Trusted Devices lists each one.
Still offline
Quit and reopen the app, which opens a fresh connection, then reload the web page. If the Mac shows online but runs do not start, send us a message with the Mac's version line from About.
